Hello from Poland.

Where can I find local San Pedro musicians to hire to perform at events?

Just a great town!

Are there many art galleries to see in San Pedro?

Yes, there are many. San Pedro is an art town. You will want to look at this page which tells you about many of the arts and culture attractions in town: http://spcvb.com/content/town-full-art-and-culture. Also, be sure to look at the San Pedro Waterfront Arts District website for current information and activities on the arts in the area. http://www.sanpedrowaterfrontartsdistrict.com/

I will be staying in the downtown area of San Pedro (at the Crowne Plaza Hotel) and need to know if there are any ATM machines from banks in the area.

We'll look forward to seeing you when you visit San Pedro. (Please drop in at the Visitor Center--we're next door to the Crowne Plaza--and say hello.) To answer your question, yes, there is an ATM at the corner of 6th and Centre Streets operated by Wells Fargo. It's just one block from your hotel.

I am a crew member on a container vessel that will be calling at the Port of Los Angeles. Can you tell me what the visa requirements are for Russian mariners? Thank you.

Thank you for your question. You will want to take a look at our web page especially for ship crew members. It provides links and contact information for immigration and other services necessary to arrange your visit. http://spcvb.com/content/information-ship-crew-members. And when you are here please drop by the San Pedro Visitor Center at 225 W. 6th Street in Downtown

Thank you for providing the visitor information! We're looking forward to visiting.

Where can I find San Pedro souvenirs?

We have post cards and a few other San Pedro items in the Visitor Center at 225 W. 6th Street. You can also find a variety of souvenirs in the shops around Downtown and at Ports O' Call Village.

I can see that people are are genuinely passionate about San Pedro! I am anxious now to come visit. Thank you for inspiring me!

I heard that there are sharks along the southern California coast. Is this a problem?

There has been an increased number of shark sightings along the Southern California coast. These have generally been to the south of San Pedro Bay. Lifeguards are very alert and always looking for sharks, and warn swimmers, suffers, and others in and around the water when sharks have been seen in the area. As always, though, one needs to use caution in the ocean--whether it's because of sharks or other sea life or currents. Here is a recent article on why the shark sightings are a good thing--conservation measures are working. Take a look at http://laist.com/2017/05/30/just_when_you_thought_it_was_safe.php

We will be taking an Amtrak train to Union Station. What is the best way from there to the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro?

The fastest route is to take the 910 bus to Beacon and 1st Streets. It's a .39 mile walk to your hotel from there.

Our travel group is coming to visit and I want to thank you for all the information you sent us. We're looking forward to it.

We loved our visit to San Pedro. And special thanks to Ben in the Visitors Center who helped us with finding so many fun things to do.

Thank you. Love this site. Coming to San Pedro soon. Can't wait.

あなたの町で良い時間を過ごしました。ありがとう。

You've got some great information on the pages of this website. I especially like the one on dining. Oh good food!

What are the best activities for children?

I like to swim but have never been in the ocean. Are there pools in the area?

Yes. The Hey, Rookie Pool just opened at Angels Gate Park on Gaffey Street. There is also a public swimming pool at Peck Park on Western Avenue. Our recommended hotels all have pools. Cabrillo Beach has a very calm section inside the breakwater.

Where is the best place to exchange money from another country?

It is possible to exchange currencies at banks, but this is an infrequent request and you may not get the best rates in exchanging foreign currency for U.S. dollars. There are currency exchange booths at Los Angeles International Airport and at some Downtown Los Angeles locations. It might be best for people traveling to San Pedro to obtain U.S. dollars while at home abroad.

Je vous remercie pour les informations. Nous avons l’intention de visiter cet été !

Looks like such a beautiful place!

Please let me know if you have any questions...

What happened to Ports O Call Village?

Thanks for asking. Ports O' Call Village, which used to be on the San Pedro Waterfront, was demolished to make way for the San Pedro Public Market development. Construction should begin this spring. We're all looking forward to this great new attraction. It will have shops, dining, and more.

In the meantime, the San Pedro Fish Market and some other restaurants are still in business, operating along the Waterfront.

Someone told me that San Pedro has an art walk. What is that?

Our Art Walk takes place on the first Thursday of every month. The next one will be on December 5.

It's an evening when the galleries and studios are open in the Historic Downtown area. Restaurants have specials and there's lots of entertainment all around. It's often when exhibitions open in the galleries.

Lots of fun. Come to San Pedro and find out!
